Paratransit Bus Operators Full-Time (Non-CDL) for A National Transit must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license and the ability to safely operate a vehicle in variable weather and traffic conditions. Candidate must have a good understanding of the basic needs of clients covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the ability to operate lift-equipped vehicles and to transport passengers using various mobility devices. You must have some degree of transportation experience.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 21 years or older
Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license
Pass a background check
Pass a DOT physical and drug test
Must have been a licensed driver for the past three (3) consecutive years
No driver's license suspension within the past three (3) years
Must complete an application with a minimum of five (5) years job history
Must be able to speak and understand English proficiently
Must always maintain a valid Department of Transportation DOT physical card
Successful completion of New Hire 3‑week training program
You Must Be Available and Flexible to Work ALL Shifts with start times between the hours of 3 am until 4 pm! We are a 24 hours/7 days operation. You will not be provided a schedule until after you have successfully completed training.
Training pay is $16.00/hr. and upon successful completion of training, the rate will change to $17.00/hr. – $19.00/hr. depending on experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Safe, courteous and timely pick up and drop off of all clients to their destinations.
Ensuring the safety of all passengers by use of appropriate and mandatory on‑board restraints.
Accurately collect and reconcile cash fares collected from customers.
Communicate effectively with dispatch or the control center via two‑way radio.
Adapt to changes in normal working conditions, including adverse weather, traffic and construction, passenger problems, accidents, and trip changes.
Employ all techniques of defensive driving to minimize the risk of accidents and passenger injuries.
Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections to ensure proper operating condition of vehicle and on‑board equipment.
Provide excellent customer service including assistance in boarding and de‑boarding passengers and providing accurate information.
Diffuse difficult situations and maintain order on board vehicle.
Maintain a safe work area and focus on safety.
Maintain a professional demeanor.
Ensure safe and clean vehicle conditions at the start and end of each shift.
