This position is in Plummer, ID. Carpool opportunities are available.

Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. required; individuals currently enrolled in school or a GED program will be considered.

Current certification: Lifeguard Certification and First Aid & CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent such as Ellis & Associates, BSA).

Lifeguard Instructor certification required; if not held, must be obtained within the first six months of hire.

Must be able to pass a lifeguard skills test as part of the selection process.

Essential Functions (ADA)

Hearing: within normal limits with or without corrective hearing devices.

Vision: adequate to read 12-point type with or without corrective lenses.

Must be able to verbally interact with staff, clients, and the public.

Manual dexterity of hands/fingers for writing and data entry.

Perform swimming rescues to patrons in distress, including approaching, breaking holds, and carrying people, which may require the removal of the patron from the water.

Stand for 75% of the day.

Walk for 80% of the day.

Push up to 60 lbs.

Pull up to 60 lbs.

Responsibilities

Be efficient and confident when using rescue or safety equipment; wear lifeguard uniform, fanny pack, and carry rescue tube at all times.

Ensure pool and Wellness Center policies are being followed and enforce them when needed, being consistent and fair at all times.

Serve as a role model to all patrons, especially youth.

Courteously assist members with questions or problems, providing exceptional customer service at all times.

Know and promote aquatic programs to all students and members.

Know daily schedules.

Complete administrative tasks such as returning phone messages, maintaining records and reports, including chemical testing, and incident reports, in a thorough and timely manner.

Attend facility staff meetings as required, serve on assigned committees, and prepare reports as requested.

Follow procedures for scheduling; communicate changes and fulfill shift coverage responsibilities.

Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures; especially aquatics opening and closing procedures and MOD.

Instruct all ages and levels in any area of Aquatic exercise or other WC/CC departments.

Complete cleaning assignments; follow written procedures for any bodily fluid discharge.

Perform daily chemical tests as outlined in Aquatics Department procedures.

Report any ongoing problems to the supervisor immediately.

Follow the defined rotation when patrons are in the water or on deck, maintaining visual contact at all times.

Keep deck areas clear.

Respond immediately in an emergency to prevent further or more serious situations.

Assist with Lifeguard and other certification courses and in‑house training as assigned.

Make sure the classes run properly.

Respond to assignments in a timely manner and communicate with the supervisor when timelines cannot be met.

Perform other duties as assigned.
