Summary Responsible for the oversight and coordination of Skyline Swim Team. This position holds a spot on the Skyline swim team board and must attend board meetings as well as Lancaster Summer Swim League meetings. This position supervises the assistant coaching staff for Skyline Swim Team.
Essential Functions
Create meet line ups for dual and invitational meets
Set up and tear down pool area for practices and meets
Ability to interact with parents, swimmers, pool manager and guards as well as the Manheim Township Parks and Recreation Professional Staff members
Hire officials for Skyline home meets
Responsible for ordering awards for home meets and Skyline Cup
Coordinate volunteers to assist with swim meets and events
Oversee and supervise assistant coaching staff
Attend team board meetings and LSSL Meetings
Create swim practice plans and mentor assistant coaching staff on practice plan writing
Other duties as necessary
Physical Requirements
Ability to demonstrate physical fitness includes frequent light to occasional heavy lifting (up to 70 lbs.), swimming, standing, and walking for long periods of time, bending, pushing, and pulling.
Able to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time and intermittently.
Ability to reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Ability to talk, hear, and see.
Required Education and Experience
3-5 years of experience in swim team coaching
Knowledge of Hy-Tech team manager and or Swimtopia platform
Knowledge of competitive swimming rules and regulations
Knowledge of competitive techniques and training methods
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to encourage a positive and inspiring environment for young athletes
Organizational and time management abilities
Preferred Education and Experience
At least two (2) years of experience as a head swim team coach
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
Required Clearances
PA Criminal Record Check
Child Abuse History
FBI Clearance Background Check
Pre-Employment physical & drug screening
Reports To Manheim Township Aquatic and Recreation Manager
Compensation This position receives a stipend throughout the swimming season. Salary amount will be set based off experience level and qualifications.
