Job Summary
The
Bartender
will prepare, serve and mix classic and innovative drinks in accordance with guests’ needs and expectations. The primary purpose is to provide friendly, attentive and timely service to create an exceptional experience for all guests.
Essential Job Functions
Maintain positive guest interactions while accurately mixing and serving beverages in a friendly and efficient manner.
Take beverage orders from guests.
Accept guest payments and process credit card charges.
Use POS systems for transactions.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non‑alcoholic drinks in accordance with standard recipes.
Peel, slice, and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
Comply with all health, safety, and hygiene standards and policies.
Balance the cash register at the start and close of each shift.
Present drink menus, make recommendations, and answer questions regarding beverages.
Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including floors, counters, sinks, utensils, and shelves.
Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
Maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promote beverages.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent knowledge of serving techniques, standard cocktails, and fine wines.
Excellent knowledge of beer, wine, liquor, and common drink recipes.
Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks.
Strong organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
Ability to handle a fast‑paced work environment.
Outstanding guest service skills.
Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Positive attitude and strong communication skills.
Basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a cash register and POS system.
Professional presentation and positive attitude.
Sheriff’s card and/or required work cards (if applicable).
Minimum age 21 years.
Minimum 2 years of food and beverage service and/or related experience.
Physical Requirements
Ability to traverse all parts of the restaurant quickly.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, sometimes throughout an entire shift.
Intermittent periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds; if more, assistance is required.
Flexibility in the wrist to scoop, twist, push, pull, lift, and bend.
Ability to read and visually verify information in a variety of formats, including small print.
Ability to visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines to identify defects.
Ability to move quickly and turn from left to right or right to left.
Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
Ability to be mobile in walk‑in refrigerators and freezers with temperatures ranging from 40°F to –10°F.
Preferred Education and Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Minimum 21 years of age.
Minimum 2 years of food and beverage service and/or related experience.
