Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Long Term Substitute for the Science department at Orange County High. This position is designed for an educator who is committed to fostering a positive learning environment and engaging students in the wonders of science. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in science education and the ability to adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of students.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality science instruction to students in various grade levels, following the established curriculum and lesson plans.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and foster a love for learning.
Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
Collaborate with other educators and staff to develop interdisciplinary lessons and support student learning.
Maintain classroom management and discipline to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and any concerns.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.
Adapt instruction and materials to accommodate the diverse learning needs of students, including those with special educational needs.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field preferred.
Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and principles across various disciplines preferred. (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to engage and motivate students in a classroom setting.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive classroom environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive school culture.
