Cook – St. Bernard – Full Time Days.

We have been serving patients since 1942 and remain committed to healing, educating and innovating. As a cook, you will prepare food for patients, cafeteria and catering services following detailed recipes, procedures and standards.

Work Schedule Full Time, Days; Rotating Weekends.

Responsibilities

Prepare food according to recipes, standards and guidelines.

Organize daily cooking activities following established protocols for food labeling and storage.

Serve and transport food.

Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas and equipment.

Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience:

1 year cooking experience in a volume feeding institution. Experience using scales for weight accuracy when issuing food.

General knowledge of cooking equipment such as convection ovens, steamers, mixers, deep‑fat fryers, blenders, slicers, grinders and other small equipment.

Reading and writing skills to comprehend written directions, labels, charts and schedules.

Ability to use various cooking equipment at heights of 30‑48 inches including ovens, food processors, microwaves, stoves, steamers, griddles, fryers, char broilers, steam kettles, blenders, tilt skillets and mixers.

Math skills for measurements, calculations, recipe preparation and portion control.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Heavy work: occasionally exerting 50‑100 pounds, frequently 25‑50 pounds, or constantly 10‑20 pounds to move objects.

Requires standing, walking and occasional lifting; no exposure to blood, body fluids or communicable diseases.
