We are currently looking for an experienced Cook to work full-time within our Independent Living community of The Wesleyan. Proven experience working as a cook or prep cook in a restaurant, healthcare, education, or senior living environment, along with a deep passion for showing others you care through the meals you prepare, will be essential to your success as a Cook at The Wesleyan.

Current Open Shifts for this Position

6:00 AM–2:00 PM: Tuesday through Saturday

10:00 AM–6:00 PM: Thursday through Monday

Essential Job Functions

Produce all food items according to designated recipes and/or product directions for preparation, seasoning, cooking, carving, and serving.

Follow designated recipes and utilize various preparation techniques, including but not limited to cook to order and cook/chill.

Prepare recipes for special diet considerations such as pureed or mechanical soft diets.

Safely operate a variety of kitchen equipment, including oven, industrial mixers, tilting skillets, steam jacket kettles, low- and high-pressure steamers, convection steamers, grills, griddles, buffer choppers, garbage disposals, knives, deep fryers, portion scales, and portion control scoops and spoons.

Present dishes and meals in a visually appealing way.

Implement proper food handling and storage procedures.

Provide prepared food and meals of the highest quality for service to the residents.

Qualifications & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

A minimum of 1–2 years’ experience as a cook, grill cook, or line cook is required; professional schooling and experience will be considered.

Additional coursework in a licensed culinary institution is desirable.

Ability to use basic math skills to complete required forms and schedules.

Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

A servant-minded approach to all aspects of the job.

Passion for working within a senior living and/or assisted living community is a plus.
