Job Summary
ONYX Specialty Processing is seeking a
Painter
to support our aerospace and industrial coating operations. This role is well suited for an experienced
automotive or industrial painter
who wants to apply their skills in a higher-precision, quality-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
Apply liquid coatings including
primers, topcoats, and specialty coatings
using HVLP and conventional spray equipment
Perform
surface preparation
including cleaning, masking, sanding, and inspection
Mix coatings per manufacturer instructions and internal work procedures
Spray test panels and verify setup prior to production
Monitor and control
film thickness, coverage, and finish quality
Operate in
controlled and non-controlled paint booth environments
Follow written work instructions, quality plans, and safety requirements
Accurately document work performed
Maintain clean, organized spray areas and equipment
Assist other departments as needed to support overall operations
2+ years of professional painting experience , including:
Automotive painting (body shop, production, or custom), or
Industrial / manufacturing coatings
Strong understanding of:
Spray gun setup and adjustment
Coating mixing and application techniques
Surface prep and masking
Ability to follow written procedures and specifications
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Willingness to help outside your primary role when needed
Must be able to safely lift and handle parts and materials up to 50 lbs and work in an industrial shop environment, including standing for extended periods and working in and around paint booths.

Preferred (Not Required)
Aerospace or defense coating experience
Familiarity with
DFT measurement
or inspection tools
Experience in regulated or quality-driven environments (ISO, AS9100, etc.)
Experience with epoxy, polyurethane, or dry film lubricant coatings
Automotive painters who are motivated to learn aerospace requirements are strongly encouraged to apply.
Compensation & Schedule
Hourly, non-exempt position
$31.25 – $36.00 per hour , depending on experience (Equivalent to approximately $65,000 – $75,000 annually)
Overtime paid per policy as production demands require
