Teacher, Specialty - Children's School (Youth & Family Programs)/Seasonal Employment Description

Chautauqua’s Children’s School is a developmental preschool for youth ages 3 to 5. The program offers a wide range of social, recreational, and educational activities that nurture children’s development. Each week features a different theme in the curriculum, and guests or speakers are often invited to share their talents. Program hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

About Your Compensation

Starts at $16.50 /hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, may rise to $19.00 /hour.

About Your Work Day

Create a safe, welcoming environment for all participants, staff, and families.

Plan and facilitate daily activities for children across all age groups.

Guide group teachers in expectations for assisting with programming in specialized areas.

Maintain supply inventory and work with the supervisor to place orders as necessary.

Ensure all equipment is in safe, working order.

About The Referral Program

Chautauqua Institution offers a $500 referral bonus (after taxes) for active employees who refer a candidate that is hired and remains employed for at least 30 days (seasonal positions). For full‑time positions the required retention period is 90 days.

About Your Schedule

Flexible full‑time and part‑time schedules are available for seasonal employment, generally from June to August. This role is primarily scheduled Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to Noon (average 30 hours/week). Extra hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required based on business needs.

About Living On The Grounds

No employer‑provided housing is available. Applicants should arrange independent housing or reside within a commutable distance.
