Job Description This position will be filled as an Apprentice 4th Year - Journeyman Lineman, depending upon experience.

Key Responsibilities – Apprentice 4th Year

Apply all applicable company construction specifications for high and low voltage line work.

Use hot line tools and work on all types of conductors.

Install transformer installations, make tap changes, and install primary metering equipment.

Locate trouble and restore service on all classes of lines, substations, sectionalizing equipment, etc.

Make underground and submarine cable installations, including joints and potheads.

Install pole type regulators and transformers to boost or buck line voltage.

Phase and check rotation in circuits directly and with potential transformers.

Perform field tests of distribution transformers and check for ground faults.

Erect and maintain steel towers and substations.

Direct work of assistants, instruct and train other employees.

Key Responsibilities – Journeyman Lineman

Make all types of transformer installations; phasing and check rotation on circuits; trace and clear grounds and opens on series circuits.

Perform all classes of hot line tool work.

Reeve blocks.

Plan and lay out all work in a safe and efficient manner.

Handle material, prepare reports and records.

Act in leadership capacity as required.

Direct work of assistants, instruct and train new employees.

Essential Functions of the Linemen Position

Traverse uneven terrain with full complement of tools weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work in extreme weather, including heat and cold.

Work in confined spaces.

Work alone when performing restoration services.

Perform physical tasks including digging, pulling, pushing, carrying and lifting up to 115 pounds.

Maintain valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and safely operate trucks and heavy equipment.

Work at heights and overhead from bucket truck.

Climb and descend from structures, poles, ladders; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grip, handle and feel.

Perform emergency rescue operations as needed.

Demonstrate sound judgment in a dangerous environment.

Follow safety rules, work up to 16 continuous hours/day, wear required PPE, use basic computer tasks.

Communicate effectively, manage stress, maintain reliable attendance, and work overtime when necessary.

Experience Requirements Journeyman Lineman – 5+ years of demonstrated linework experience required.

Apprentice 4th Year – 4+ years demonstrated linework experience required.

Condition of Employment Pre‑employment Fitness for Duty exam required.
