Patient Support Volunteer (Ormond Beach)
Join the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation to become a Patient Support Volunteer. Volunteers brighten a cancer patient’s day by providing non‑medical support while they are undergoing treatment.
The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011, located at 5204 Paylor Lane, Sarasota, Florida. The Foundation assists cancer patients across Florida. Due to the generosity of Florida Cancer Specialists partner physicians covering all overhead expenses, 100% of donations received go directly toward paying the essential non‑medical living expenses of an adult battling cancer.
Responsibilities
Provide snacks or beverages to patients in the infusion area.
Hand out warm blankets, reading materials, and other comfort items.
Talk, listen, and offer social support to patients.
Clean and wipe down infusion chairs.
Assist nurses by restocking supplies.
Eligibility & Qualifications
Ideal candidates may be retirees, cancer survivors, caregivers, or college students interested in oncology, nursing, or medicine.
Minimum time commitment: 3 hours per week for at least six months.
Other Requirements
Complete a phone interview.
Complete a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening.
Complete a health screening including Tuberculosis (TB) testing and immunizations for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella (or approved exemption).
Receive an annual influenza vaccine (August 1 – March 31).
