The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. The Foundation assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Due to the generosity of the Florida Cancer Specialists partner physicians covering all overhead expenses for the Foundation, 100% of donations received go directly towards paying the essential non‑medical living expenses of adults battling cancer.

Role Overview Become a Patient Support Volunteer and brighten a cancer patient’s day by providing non‑medical support while they are undergoing treatment. Volunteers in the infusion area provide snacks or beverages, warm blankets, reading materials, friendly conversation, and assistance to nurses with re‑stocking and cleaning infusion chairs.

Ideal Candidates

Retirees, cancer survivors, or caregivers of someone with cancer.

College students interested in oncology, nursing, or medicine.

Commitment Minimum time commitment of 3 hours per week for at least six months.

Requirements

Complete a phone interview.

Complete a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening. Individuals who test positive for nicotine or medical marijuana will not be permitted to participate in the volunteer program.

Complete a health screening: Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella immunizations or approved exemption.

Receive an influenza vaccine annually (August 1 through March 31).
