Produce Clerk Part Time
BJ's Wholesale Club – Honeoye Falls, NY
Job Summary Sort, display, remove, and replenish fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. Maintain the overall environment, assist members through product knowledge and customer service, ensuring produce meets or exceeds the company quality standards.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
Assist members in the produce department, answering questions, recommending products, and providing safe handling tips.
Inspect, rotate, and store produce upon delivery, ensuring all received produce meets or exceeds company standards.
Rotate produce on the sales floor, ensuring optimal freshness and variety; keep displays neat and clean, and remove unsuitable products.
Maintain the produce reserve stock area; date and rotate back‑stock items, keeping storage organized and condensed daily.
Follow guidelines when disposing of damaged, spoiled, or expired products.
Assist Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
Cleans and sanitizes all produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the cooler.
Generate signage for produce goods and perform price checks; ensure accurate pricing and signing.
Maintain all club policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
Regular, predictable full attendance is essential.
Qualifications
Work experience in a produce department preferred.
Knowledge of fruit and vegetables preferred, including seasonal items.
At least 18 years of age.
Environmental Job Conditions
Most time spent moving on hard surfaces, bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, stooping.
Frequently required to lift up to 30 pounds; may lift heavier items with assistance.
Indoor environment with exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers.
Pay Range In accordance with Pay Transparency, $16.50 – $19.80 per hour; actual salaries vary by location, education, experience, and qualifications.
