Transportation Aide
Smith County Nursing & Rehabilitation is looking for an energetic, caring, and dependable Transportation Aide to help support our residents with dignity and compassion. This is more than a driving role — it’s an opportunity to make meaningful connections and ensure our residents feel safe, supported, and valued every step of the way.
As a Transportation Aide, you will play a key part in our residents’ well-being by safely transporting them to and from appointments, assisting them in and out of the vehicle, and ensuring their comfort throughout the trip. When you’re not on the road, you’ll help create a warm and supportive environment within the facility by assisting our care team as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Confirm and make doctors’ appointments for residents.
Assist in making arrangements, and in providing transportation, to appointments, community events, and other outings as needed.
Notify family members of arrangements regarding appointments.
Perform clerical tasks, including processing administrative transfers and discharges.
Record resident vital signs, weights and measurements, intake and output, food consumption, and other assigned information.
Utilize proper body mechanics when lifting or transporting residents.
Job Requirements
Active CPR Certification – Candidates must hold a current CPR certification to respond confidently and safely during resident transport.
Valid State Driver’s License (Clean Driving Record Required) – Must possess a valid driver’s license with no more than three (3) total entries on their Motor Vehicle Record. This includes accidents (regardless of fault), moving violations, failures to appear. Disqualifying offenses include DUI/DWI, refusal to test, reckless driving, hit-and-run, or any felony driving conviction.
Strong independence & decision‑making skills – Work with minimal supervision, take initiative when unexpected situations arise, and make responsible decisions while ensuring resident safety and comfort.
Clear & professional communication skills – Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to relay appointment information, document care details, and interact confidently with residents, families, and healthcare partners.
