Salary Range:

$52,700 – $112,200 , commensurate with experience, certifications, and advanced degrees.

Position Purpose Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the Elementary School Teacher facilitates student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district‑approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress; addressing the specific educational needs of individual students; and creating a flexible, safe, and supportive learning environment. The teacher provides ongoing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.

Essential Functions

Develop and deliver elementary curriculum aligned with district goals, objectives, and the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.

Create a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to whole‑group, small‑group, and individualized instruction.

Design lesson plans and instructional materials and effectively translate them into meaningful learning experiences.

Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs, including students with disabilities and English Language Learners.

Provide individual and small‑group instruction to support student growth and mastery of skills.

Instruct students in responsible citizenship and subject matter in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and district policies.

Maintain accurate and complete records for student attendance, achievement, grading, and progress in compliance with district procedures and state requirements.

Communicate effectively and regularly with parents and guardians to encourage involvement in student learning.

Establish and maintain standards of student behavior consistent with school and district policies to support a productive learning environment.

Collaborate with grade‑level colleagues and other elementary staff to evaluate curriculum, instruction, and student outcomes; participate in faculty meetings and committees.

Select, requisition, and maintain instructional materials, supplies, and equipment.

Supervise students during school activities outside the classroom, including arrival, dismissal, recess, and transportation as assigned.

Administer standardized assessments in accordance with district and state testing programs.

Additional Duties

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal, central office administrators, or Superintendent.

Equipment Used

Standard office and instructional equipment, including personal computers, printers, copiers, and communication devices.

Travel Requirements

Travel to district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of current instructional practices and educational pedagogy, including differentiated instruction.

Knowledge of elementary curriculum and developmental learning concepts.

Knowledge of data systems, assessment tools, and instructional data analysis to inform instruction.

Knowledge of applicable federal and New Jersey state education laws and regulations.

Ability to effectively use educational technology and district‑supported software systems.

Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.

Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.

Commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective practice.

Physical/Environmental Demands

Work is performed in standard classroom and school environments.

Qualifications Profile Certification / License

Valid New Jersey State Certification for Elementary Education (K–6)

Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or a related field

Master’s degree preferred

Experience

Prior successful teaching experience at the elementary level preferred
