High School Equivalency (HSE) Academic Coach (Evening)
COMPENSATION:
$21.00/hour
FLSA STATUS:
Non-exempt, Part-time, 10.5 hours/week
SHIFT:
Tuesday – Thursday, 6:00PM – 8:30PM plus paid planning time
SUPERVISOR:
Sr. Director of Adult Education
LOCATION:
Pottstown, PA
What We Are Looking For YWCA Tri-County Area (YW3CA) provides high school equivalency (HSE) instruction to adults who are in pursuit of their high school diploma. The program serves a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and culturally different members of our community. The successful candidate must be comfortable working with learners who had previous negative learning experiences and must be sincerely interested in helping all students achieve.
What You’ll Be Doing
Teach High School Equivalency (HSE) class to adults with a wide range of prior education.
Empower students with a heart‑felt message of support.
Assist students in building their digital literacy skills.
Use interactive teaching methods to engage students in conversations, hands‑on activities, and practice, avoiding lecture‑style instruction.
Create lesson plans aligned with College and Career Readiness Standards.
Maintain accurate documentation of student attendance, services provided, and progress.
Design and implement supplemental activities to reinforce key concepts and support student progress.
Adhere to all guidelines set by YWCA, PA Dept of Education, and the web‑based program developer.
Work closely with other team members in Pottstown and Norristown.
Participate in agency and state professional development training.
Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

Self‑motivation and flexibility, willingness to welcome the opportunity to further develop skills and accept challenges.
Attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to multi‑task.
Strong organization skills and excellent time management.
Comfortability with technology (laptops, Smart Board, etc.) including strong computer literacy skills.
Reliable, good problem solver, able to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
Able to accept guidance and feedback and support teamwork and efforts.
Education & Experience
Minimum of bachelor’s degree required (BA or BS).
Prior experience working with adults in education or related fields.
