Job Responsibilities
Operate medium motorized equipment on the Drainage Crew, including Aggregate Spreader, Belt Loader, Combination Tractor with Side‑Mounted Mower, Skid Steer Loader, Tandem Dump Truck, and Tractor with Large Mower.
Use manual labor to perform maintenance tasks such as clearing right‑of‑way, cleaning drainage ditches, repairing shoulders, patching potholes, making base repairs, paving driveways, laying side‑line/cross‑line pipe, grading, setting forms, laying bricks/blocks, and repairing and building.
Pour/finish concrete or cement for curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, catch basins, etc.
Perform traffic‑control operations for work zones, including flagging traffic for the safety of the crew and the public during various phases of roadway maintenance.
Assist in emergency and inclement weather operations and be on‑call for after‑hours emergencies.
Be available for extended working hours or 12‑hour shifts as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Six (6) months of related work experience or an approved equivalent.
A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
Attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
Physical Requirement
Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Require extended walking, traversing rough and uneven terrain, and working near motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards.
May be required to work outside normal hours, especially during inclement weather and departmental emergencies.
Frequently exposed to outdoor environments in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
