Job Overview Under general supervision, the successful candidate installs, maintains, and repairs sanitary and storm sewer systems, pumping stations, and related structures; operates light and heavy equipment, including but not limited to jet trucks, TV inspection equipment, portable power equipment and hand tools.
The starting rate of pay is based on qualifications and/or experience that exceed the minimum requirements.
Responsibilities
Inspects, maintains and/or repairs sewer systems to ensure that systems are functioning properly.
Maintains inspection and activity records; checks and cleans equipment and tools.
Drives trucks of various sizes and weights while loading, hauling, and unloading various materials and equipment.
Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and pipe cleaning, pumping station and pipe repair.
Operates various power equipment and hand tools used in the sewer division.
Operates video equipment in order to check sewer mains.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of prior experience in construction and maintenance related to sewers, manholes, pump stations and collection systems operations.
Must possess or be capable of obtaining a Class B Florida State CDL License with tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire.
Required to respond to emergency calls after‑hours and on holidays.
Knowledge and ability to operate CCTV inspection equipment for sanitary and storm main lines.
Required knowledge of the tools, equipment, pumps, basic traffic control and methods used in sewer maintenance work; including pumps, compressors, generators, hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radios, sewer video equipment, safety equipment, or similarly related field.
