Middle School Substitute Math Teacher – Stride, Inc.
Stride, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified Middle School Substitute Math Teacher to provide engaging online instruction for students in Alabama. This temporary, contract role offers a competitive hourly rate of $20.00 and supports our mission of delivering high‑quality, personalized education.
Responsibilities
Deliver live synchronous teaching (minimum 15 hours per week) and provide asynchronous support, including lesson planning, grading, and data‑driven instruction.
Prepare students for high‑stakes standardized tests and maintain accurate grade books and progress reports.
Communicate regularly with students, learning coaches, and parents to foster positive relationships and address instructional needs.
Collaborate with local, regional, and national teams to refine content and instructional practices.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
At least six (6) months of student‑teaching experience.
Valid Alabama Mathematics Teaching Certificate or Alabama Substitute Certificate.
Clear required background check(s).
Ability to work independently for 40+ hours per week in a professional home office.
Stable high‑speed internet connection and proficiency in Microsoft Office and K12 instructional platforms.
Desired Qualifications
Experience teaching middle school ages in a virtual environment.
Familiarity with Blackboard Collaborative, Newrow, Edgelink, or similar online platforms.
Strong technological proficiency and ability to adapt to new platforms quickly.
Work Environment
Full‑time virtual position; occasional travel to state testing sites.
No formal supervisory responsibilities.
