Middle School Math Teacher The Middle School Math Teacher is a state‑certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on individual student needs. They monitor progress using the Stride K12 learning management system and work closely with students, parents, and learning coaches to advance each student toward established goals. While primarily working from home, teachers must travel occasionally throughout the year for school functions such as state testing or other required events.

Required Certificates and Licenses North Carolina Teaching Certification with a Middle School Math endorsement.

Residency Requirements Must reside in North Carolina.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.

Personalizes learning for all students and demonstrates a belief in every student’s ability to succeed.

Differentiates instruction based on student mastery levels.

Augments course content using appropriate tools under guidance from the principal and coach.

Maintains grade book, ensuring academic integrity, student placement, and promotion decisions, and alerts administrators to concerns.

Prepares students for high‑stakes standardized tests.

Reports to parents and learning coaches regularly, building positive rapport and communicating timely updates.

Supports parents and coaches with student curricular and instructional issues, including troubleshooting in the virtual classroom.

Travels as required (≈20% of the time) for professional development, student testing, and school events.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree AND

Active state teaching license AND

Ability to clear required background check.

Desired Qualifications

Experience teaching with the proposed age group.

Experience supporting adults and children in technology use.

Experience teaching online or in a brick‑and‑mortar environment.

Familiarity with online learning platforms.

Collaborative use of data to drive instruction.

Receptive to coaching and adaptation for student outcomes.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Rapid learner of new technologies and teaching platforms.

Commitment to maintaining certification and professional development hours.

Compensation & Benefits Salaries are determined by education, experience, location, and performance, with typical offers in the bottom half of the pay range. Benefits include standard K12 employee benefits and professional development opportunities.

Work Environment

This position is virtual.

Job Type Full‑time, regular position requiring 40+ hours per week with a flexible home‑office schedule.
