MacAllister Machinery Co., Inc. (Novi, MI) invites prospective students to apply for the Caterpillar Think BIG Program, a sponsored education partnership with Owens Community College and Caterpillar Inc. The program supports the development of future Caterpillar dealership mechanics.
Description Completing the program gives students a 2‑year Associate Degree in Caterpillar Dealer Technician/Diesel Technician, paid internships, and the possibility of graduating with little or no student debt, depending on academic performance.
Responsibilities
Attend 8 weeks of classes at Owens Community College, learning theory and hands‑on skills for Caterpillar dealership technicians.
Complete the next 8 weeks of paid internship at a local Caterpillar dealer, applying classroom knowledge to real‑world job tasks.
Engage in a variety of technical areas during the program, including Electronics, Diagnostics, Engines and Transmissions, Hydraulics, and supporting general education such as mathematics.
Maintain overall program completion over a 2‑year period.
Qualifications
Minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
High school diploma or equivalent.

300‑word statement of career goals.
Three reference letters from teachers, counselors, or former employers.
Attendance record for the final year of school.
Results from the Accuplacer test or the ACT.
