This entry‑level position (Level 1) provides a high level of technical support on a regional or system basis relating to corrosion control and pipeline integrity. Design and maintain cathodic protection and internal corrosion control facilities; conduct internal and external specialized corrosion tests on steel structures. Approximately six to twelve months of training or work experience are required for this role.
Responsibilities
Responsible for all activities related to corrosion control and pipeline integrity, including design, installation, operation, and maintenance of cathodic protection facilities, power lines, galvanic anodes, and internal corrosion control facilities.
Monitor the condition of pipelines through pipe‑to‑soil potentials, visual inspection, examination of coupons, data from in‑line tools, etc.
Monitor electrical isolation and identify points of electrical shorts.
Conduct various tests, measurements, and surveys to ensure efficient operation of cathodic protection facilities.
Lead efforts to design and implement effective long‑term cathodic protection systems; prepare drawings, job specifications, and contract bid documents.
Conduct atmospheric corrosion inspections for all above‑ground piping and assist in developing remediation plans.
Assist Engineering & Construction and Engineering personnel with the evaluation, development, implementation, and maintenance of facility grounding systems.
Act as a highly motivated self‑starter with the ability to complete and prioritize work assignments with minimal daily supervision.
Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
Oversee the construction and/or work activities performed by third parties.
Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
Evaluate and remediate corrosion anomalies (e.g., pits, gouges, dents).
Maintain excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
Will work non‑traditional hours as needed.
Maintain a high regard for personal safety, company assets, employees, and the general public.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical field or a related discipline, or direct work experience in pipeline system operations may be considered as a substitute for a degree.
Experience / Specific Knowledge
Understand and operate all corrosion related instrumentation.
Good record of safe work practices.
Working knowledge of environmental and safety aspects of coating projects.
Ability to operate and maintain chemical injection and pressure access equipment.
Ability to estimate installation, operating, and maintenance expenses associated with corrosion systems.
Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as necessary to perform job duties.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
Good verbal and written communication skills.

Dexterity to operate vibratory tools, grasp, pinch, and use specialized testing equipment safely and effectively.
Physical endurance to stand, walk, and work in outdoor environmental conditions including exposure to wet, hot, cold, and windy environments for extended periods.
Flexibility to work in confined spaces or uneven terrain, often requiring sustained physical effort and balance.
Ability to safely handle and maneuver equipment or materials over distances up to 30 feet, often requiring sustained physical exertion.
Working Conditions
Varying working conditions from office settings to working outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
Working with and around industrial hazards.
Frequent travel, sometimes overnight, may be required.
Occasional overtime may be required.
Living environs will be relevant to the work location to address call outs and emergency response.
May be required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non‑working hours.

Previous working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, corrosion related portions of NEC, and NACE standards.
Prior knowledge of company policies and DOT regulations.
Knowledge and experience with safe handling practices of products (gas and liquids).
3 years’ experience in the pipeline industry or related field.
