Primary Purpose To provide high level technical support on a regional or system basis relating to corrosion control and pipeline integrity. Design and maintain cathodic protection and internal corrosion control facilities. Conduct internal and external specialized corrosion tests on steel structures. Level 1 is an entry‑level position with approximately six to twelve months of training/work experience in order to progress to the next level.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all activities related to corrosion control and pipeline integrity, including design, installation, operation, and maintenance of cathodic protection facilities, power lines, galvanic anodes and internal corrosion control facilities.

Monitor pipeline condition through pipe‑to‑soil potentials, visual inspection, coupons, data from in‑line tools, etc.

Monitor electrical isolation and identify points of electrical shorts.

Conduct various tests, measurements, and surveys to ensure efficient operation of cathodic protection facilities.

Lead efforts to design and implement effective long‑term cathodic protection systems; prepare drawings, job specifications and contract bid documents.

Conduct atmospheric corrosion inspections for all above‑ground piping and assist in developing remediation plans.

Assist E&C and Engineering personnel with evaluation, development, implementation and maintenance of facility grounding systems.

Highly motivated self‑starter able to complete and prioritize work assignments with minimal daily supervision.

Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.

Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.

Oversee construction and/or work activities performed by third parties.

Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, regulatory and tariff requirements.

Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.

Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.

Evaluate and remediate corrosion anomalies such as pits, gouges, dents, etc.

Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.

Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.

Work non‑traditional hours as needed.

Maintain a high regard for personal safety, company assets and employee safety, and public safety.

Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred associate's degree in a technical field or related discipline, or direct work experience in pipeline system operations may be considered as a substitute for a degree.

Experience / Specific Knowledge:

Understand and operate all corrosion‑related instrumentation.

Good record of safe work practices.

Working knowledge of environmental and safety aspects of coating projects.

Ability to operate and maintain chemical injection and pressure access equipment.

Ability to estimate installation, operating and maintenance expenses associated with corrosion systems.

Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Competencies, Skills & Abilities:

Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Strong customer focus and attention to detail.

Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.

Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience and skill sets of the successful candidate.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift up to 52 pounds repeatedly, including lifting from knee to waist and waist to overhead positions.

Capable of carrying objects weighing up to 52 pounds up to 15 feet.

Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, including working at heights with fall protection equipment.

Ability to perform various motions such as stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting to access work areas and perform tasks.

Dexterity to operate vibratory tools, grasp, pinch, and use specialized testing equipment safely and effectively.

Physical endurance to stand, walk, and work in outdoor environmental conditions including exposure to wet, hot, cold, and windy environments for extended periods.

Flexibility to work in confined spaces or uneven terrain, often requiring sustained physical effort and balance.

Ability to safely handle and maneuver equipment or materials over distances up to 30 feet, often requiring sustained physical exertion.

Working Conditions:

Varying working conditions from office settings to working outdoors in inclement weather conditions.

Working with and around industrial hazards.

Frequent travel, sometimes overnight, may be required.

Occasional overtime may be required.

Living environs will be relevant to the work location to address callouts and emergency response.

May be required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non‑working hours.

The selected candidate must successfully pass a drug screening, background check, and fit‑for‑duty examination, including credit reports for specific positions—after receiving a job offer and before commencing employment.
