Duties The Pacific West Region is hiring

TEMPORARY Summer seasonal positions

for Summer 2026 (up to 1,039 hours per service year). Appointment dates are

April through October , but vary based on funding, weather, projects, and visitor needs. Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending on work availability and funding.

Duty Station is:

Yosemite National Park , California.

Duties: Fabricate, maintain, restore, repair and replace historic and non-historic signs that include rustic log, wood and aluminum sign substrates. Manufacture of aluminum plaques using engraving machines, routers and sand blaster. Fabrication of letter routing and engraving templates. Operate, maintain and troubleshoot computer output devices that include vinyl plotter, printer, and CNC router. Maintain, repair and construct concrete and stone sign bases, pedestals and guard-walls. Assists in striping parking lots, pedestrian crossings and other pavement markings using airless striping machine. Safely operate a variety of motor vehicles and equipment that may include forklift, mini-excavator, skid loader, 5 yard dump truck, aerial man lift, all terrain vehicles, metal cut-off saw and various powered hand tools. Appropriately set up, maintain and work within controlled traffic work zones and works as a flagger during roadway projects.

Physical Demands:

Will lift and load objects weighing up to 80 pounds on to trucks from transport and installation in the field. Work involves standing, walking, lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling. Moderate to heavy physical effort may be used or needed while installing or relocation signs and materials. Incumbent may be required to stand long hours flagging traffic for maintenance crews working in or alongside roadways. May hike long distances, up to 15 miles carrying a backpack and work gear while working in the backcountry.

Working Conditions:

Incumbent will be working on projects ranging from 2,000-10,000 feet in elevation in mountainous terrain under moderate to severe weather conditions. Incumbent will be exposed to dust, grease, noise and vibrations from equipment. Incumbent will encounter icy, slippery walking surfaces during winter months and temperatures over 100 degrees during summer months. Incumbent will be required to wear proper personnel protective equipment associated with duties being performed. Incumbent will wear and maintain the work uniform to conform to the NPS uniform standard.
