We’re looking for enthusiastic LEAD TEACHERS to help young minds explore and discover the world. Please note that invitations for interviews are sent by email. You will be responsible for the care and education of children enrolled in your program, developing positive, nurturing relationships while building cooperative connections with their caregivers.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and their caregivers.
Supervise and interact with program participants, using age-appropriate techniques.
Plan, develop, and implement YMCA curriculum lesson plans and activities.
Maintain records and process regular reports.
Ensure coverage and arrange for substitute instructors to maintain YMCA standards and state licensing staff‑to‑child ratios, including consistent participation in program.
Work with supervisor on promotional activities and flyers, and parent newsletter.
Create and manage engaging family activities and events.
Administer First Aid to children/staff if required.
Education & Certifications
High School diploma or GED required.
Associates Degree in a related field preferred, or currently pursuing an Associate’s Degree.
Level 3 CPL required, CDA preferred.
Experience
Minimum 2 years working in a school age or preschool childcare setting, with experience in licensed childcare programs preferred.
Minimum 1 year’s experience with all ODJFS licensing procedures and Step Up to Quality requirements preferred.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
All YMCA employees are mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect.
Ability to administer the program, fiscal, and personnel policies of the association.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
Physical Requirements
Able to regularly lift and move up to 50lbs.
Sound perception at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
Able to orally instruct and communicate.
