Position:
Mid Level Technician - Heavy Duty
Schedule:
6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m., may vary
What You'll Do:
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide range of city vehicles, from construction equipment to fire trucks and SUVs
Documents defects and performs minor range repairs associated with preventative maintenance findings such as fluids, brakes, tires, lights, hydraulics, etc and general repair as well as moderate levels of removal and replacement and diagnostic work.
Performs major and minor mechanical repairs to two stroke and four stroke compression ignition and spark ignition engines.
Conduct minor engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical repairs
Assist in new vehicle make-ready service and decommissioning
Provide road-side assistance for city vehicles
Maintain clean, safe work area and comply with all safety procedures
Must-Have Qualifications:
High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 5 years' experience as a skilled mechanic; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of heavy and light equipment, internal combustion and diesel engines
Skilled with garage tools, scan tools, and mechanical diagnostics
Valid Indiana driver's license; CDL B with airbrake endorsement within one year
