Injection Mold Technician
Summary of role:
12‑hour rotating night shift with $2.00 night premium. Starting pay is $26.00 per hour.
The Mold Technician executes daily activities that support production quality, material flow, equipment maintenance, and workplace cleanliness. The Process Engineer and/or Technical Manager fulfills this role when vacant. After 12 months and completion of all required training, the technician is eligible for promotion to Level 2.
Key Responsibilities
Keep floors clean, mopped, and free of parts, material, and debris.
Complete daily mold condition sheets, cavitation sheets, and the silo log.
Weigh and record scrap parts, categorize scrap types, and dispose of them in the proper location.
Enter injection molding production and scrap numbers into the Daily Production Report.
Assist the supervisor in completing the 5W&1H on the reaction sheet.
Verify resin and masterbatch lot information and confirm correct material for the parts being produced.
Locate and transport resin and masterbatch to support production.
Assist the Maintenance department as needed.
Assist the Tooling Technician with out‑of‑press mould PMs in a supervised environment.
Assist the Process Engineer with short‑term projects.
Keep the mold tech’s toolbox clean and organized.
Maintain good condition of tools and track their usage.
Notify the Process Engineer if there are any condition issues with molds, tools, or machinery.
Complete Paulson Training, Injection Molding Fundamentals section with an 80% or higher grade.
Demonstrate an understanding of Paulson Fundamentals Training skills in a production environment.
Identify, store, and handle materials properly.
Execute proper purging procedures.
Identify defect types and machine and mold safety procedures.
Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Skills & Experience
Minimum 10 + years of related experience and/or training.
Proficiency in maintaining automation equipment.
Experience with project management.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform complex system tests.
Strong leadership and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the development team.
Education
High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
Minimum 2‑year technical degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
Physical Demands
Must be able to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Frequently standing, walking, and sitting.
Frequently required to use hands to finger, feel, reach or handle machinery.
Frequently bend, stoop and reach.
Visual acuity (VA) required.
