Spartanburg Methodist College invites applications for part‑time adjunct faculty positions in chemistry. The successful candidate will teach one to three three‑hour labs held in‑person. The start date for Spring 2026 is January 13, but the department seeks candidates for future semesters as well. Contracts may be renewed on a semester‑by‑semester basis pending enrollment, instructor availability, and student success.

Responsibilities

Teach laboratory courses (one to three three‑hour labs) in chemistry.

Prepare laboratory materials and instructional plans.

Assess student performance and provide feedback.

Maintain accurate laboratory records and grading.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to support program goals.

Qualifications

Hold an MS or Ph.D. in chemistry or a master’s degree in a related field plus 18 graduate hours in a physical science.

Possess strong communication skills; be familiar with laboratory instruction.

Have experience as a teacher at the college level (or demonstrable promise thereof).

About the College Founded in 1911, Spartanburg Methodist College is a private residential liberal arts institution serving a diverse student population within the United Methodist Connection. The college launched its first bachelor’s degree in 2019 and is growing significantly by adding new programs and consistently evaluating operations.
