Driver – Community Transportation (Developmental Disability Services)
Paladin, Inc. | Lake County, IN
If you love being on the road and helping people live more connected, independent lives, you’ll fit right in at
Paladin .
Our drivers do more than get people from point A to point B — they make each day possible for the adults with developmental disabilities we serve. Whether it’s getting someone to work, to a doctor’s appointment, or to a day program they love, your care and reliability help keep their world moving.
Why You’ll Love Driving for Paladin We know this work takes heart — and we’re here to support you while you support others. Our drivers say what keeps them going is
the people
— the smiles, the greetings, the “thank yous,” and the knowledge that their work matters.
Here’s what you can expect:
A meaningful job that directly improves lives
A steady schedule with local routes (no long-distance travel)
Supportive team environment and training
A workplace that values respect, reliability, and compassion
Paid training and opportunities to grow
What You’ll Do You’ll provide safe, reliable transportation for adults with developmental disabilities to and from programs, community activities, and appointments.
Key responsibilities include:
Safely operate agency vehicles (cars, vans, or buses)
Assist passengers with boarding, seatbelts, or wheelchairs as needed
Keep daily logs, mileage sheets, and reports accurate and up to date
Perform daily vehicle inspections and routine upkeep (fuel, maintenance)
Communicate with staff about routes, passenger needs, or safety issues
Support passengers with courtesy, patience, and professionalism
You’ll also follow all state, local, and agency policies related to transportation and developmental disability services.
What You’ll Need
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
(Or ability to obtain) Public Passenger/Chauffeur License or For-Hire endorsement
Basic knowledge of local roads or willingness to learn
Ability to assist individuals safely in and out of vehicles and operate a wheelchair lift van
Compassion, patience, and reliability — the most important skills of all
Preferred:
Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals, or in a caregiving or customer service setting.
Join Our Team If you’re the kind of person who believes everyone deserves to live a full and connected life — and you’re ready to put your driving skills to work making that happen — we’d love to meet you.
