About the Role Park Maitland School is seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social studies, a commitment to educational excellence, and a dedication to fostering a positive learning environment for middle school students. The teacher will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, delivering high-quality instruction, and assessing student progress to ensure academic growth and development.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement engaging and standards-aligned lesson plans for middle school social studies.

Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes active student participation and critical thinking.

Differentiate instruction using a variety of teaching strategies and resources to meet diverse learning needs.

Assess student learning through both formative and summative assessments to inform instruction.

Provide timely, constructive feedback to support each student’s academic and personal growth.

Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom updates.

Collaborate with colleagues to enrich the middle school program and support interdisciplinary learning.

Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in education and social studies instruction.

Model the school’s values and mission through professionalism, reflection, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Actively participate in middle school events and contribute as an invested member of the middle school team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Valid teaching certification for middle school social studies.

Previous teaching experience in a middle school setting preferred.

Strong knowledge of social studies content, including history, geography, economics, and civics.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction and learning.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
