Responsibilities Responsible for assisting Teachers in the planning, preparing, and implementing the applicable curriculum of the classroom and overseeing daily activities as related to the classroom. This includes but is not limited to assisting students with assignments, projects, activities, indoor and outdoor learning activities, meal or snack time activities, and student transportation duties as applicable. Competency to provide effective and nurturing teacher-student interactions, plan and implement learning experiences that ensure effective curriculum implementation and use of assessment and promote student’s progress with regard to the Education Administration’s standard, including students with disabilities and dual language learners, as applicable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist by reinforcing activities for students in collaboration with teacher.

Assist children into and out of the bus where applicable

Assist students during snack time and/or meal times

Assist teacher in establishing an open and ongoing communication with parents.

Assist teacher in planning for individual needs of students

Assist teacher with daily documentation in reference to daily observations.

Assist teacher with documentation and record keeping

Assist with food sanitation requirements during field trips and/or education events

Assists students, individually or in small groups, with homework supervision

Attend staff meetings and trainings as instructed by supervisor.

Attend workshops, conferences and all in-service trainings.

Enforce cleanup activities between transition times (from classroom to playground) by modeling appropriate behavior.

Ensuring that all program rules, policies, and guidelines are adhered to in the classroom.

Follows procedures for late pickup and utilizes applicable forms and documentation resources

Greets and acknowledges student when they arrive, while also following drop-off policies and procedures within the program.

Help children feel safe and comfortable while being transported, when applicable.

Interacting with children to provide guidance, emotional support, and motivation to complete tasks.

Maintain current emergency information for all students who attend the program

Maintain regular attendance and notify supervisor when absent and/or late.

Maintain training hours and documentation as required.

Maintaining an organized and clean classroom environment and ensuring students conduct themselves appropriately.

Maintains first aid kit and follows health and safety procedures established for the Education Administration program

Manages discipline, utilizes the Incident Report form when needed and brings concerns to the attention of applicable Program Management

Monitors attendance to ensure Student-Teacher ratio is within the standards of the program and supports where needed

Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, cafeteria, playground, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive enriching environment.

Participate in professional development activities.

Performs general clerical tasks (e.g. laminating, making posters, making copies, bulletin boards, filing, newsletters, etc.) for the purpose of helping the Program.

Plans, organizes, and ensures at the start of each day all activities are ready when students arrive.

Preparing learning materials and equipment, such as books, arts and crafts, stationery, and other supplies as needed.

Properly label and follow sanitation requirements for the program.

Provide a supportive and inclusive environment for all students

Provide an environment of comfort and security for students by indulging in nurturing behavior.

Provide feedback to classroom teacher in the area of individualization documentation.

Provide First Aid/CPR as required.

Reinforce lessons presented by teachers by reviewing material with students one-on-one or in small groups

Release students from the program to parents, guardians or to persons who have been designated by the parents/guardians and that are documented in the student’s file.

Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, appropriate and/or inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, change in behavior, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to the appropriate program staff

Serve as an information liaison between the Tribal Student Services staff and the parents/guardians

Support a healthy and nurturing environment for all children.

Support and implement appropriate redirection practices to assist all students

Support services and individualization activities for children.

Support the development of the weekly lesson plans by providing input as to his/her classroom observations of individual children or groups

Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor.

Education/Experience Requirements Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree or 45 college hours leading to a degree in Education or related field. Experience working with school aged students

Preferred Qualifications A Bachelor of Arts Degree, or Bachelor’s degree in Education or related filed preferred.
