Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital
Prepares, seasons, and cooks food for patients, employees, and visitors.
Position Responsibilities Cook Responsibilities:
Reviews menus and work orders to determine quantities of food to be prepared
Maintain cleanliness of station throughout service
Maintain proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards while preparing food, serving food and clean-up
Maintain food temperature logs, and refrigerator/freezer logs
Orders food products from storeroom
Pre-prepares special items that require attention
Prepares and measures proper ingredients
Must properly label, date, store, and rotate food items and products under refrigeration and in the freezer
Ensure proper temperature for all food items being served
Coordinates proper and prompt utilization of leftovers
Cleans work areas as assigned
Displays a positive and enthusiastic approach to all assignments
Performs related duties as requested
Attends and satisfactorily completes the mandatory education classes
Cooks on grill if needed
Experience:
1-4 years hospital, institutional or restaurant cooking preferred.
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent required
Special Certifications:
ServSafe Certification required or must obtain within 6 month of hire.
