Cook - Apprentice Program

Job Overview Three‑year apprenticeship with classroom learning and on‑the‑job training at IHG Hotels & Resorts in Guam. The program prepares interns to become fully qualified cooks.
Key Responsibilities
Attend classroom lectures at Guam Community College (GCC) or earn an equivalent credit, totaling a minimum of 480 credit hours of lecture.
Work approximately 34 hours per week at the hotel, accumulating a total of 6,000 on‑the‑job training hours.
Be rotated through all core aspects of hotel kitchen operations in accordance with the Guam Registered Apprentice Program (GRAP).
Prepare meals according to portion and quality standards specified in standard recipes, minimizing waste.
Promote teamwork and quality service through regular communication and coordination with managers, team members, and other departments.
Follow safety and security procedures and policies; report maintenance problems, hazards, accidents or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and store flammable materials properly.
Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance, and keep confidentiality and protect company assets.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, supporting the team to reach common goals, and communicating in a clear and professional manner.
Move, lift, carry, push/pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, and navigate stairs, ladders, and service ramps.
Eligibility & Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old and hold a High School Diploma.
Bona fide resident of Guam for at least three years.
U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien.
Agree to all terms and conditions of the Program.
GCC Culinary Students are welcome.
