Non-Destructive Examination / NDT Technician - Weekend 12hr 1st Shift
Join GE Vernova as a Non‑Destructive Examination (NDT) Technician to assemble, maintain, diagnose, repair, calibrate, and modify mechanical, electro‑mechanical, electronic, micro‑electronics, optical, magnetic, nuclear measurement, radiography, counting, monitoring, and ultrasonic equipment. Working on both prototype and production lines, you will troubleshoot complex control systems, utilize advanced test equipment, and document all maintenance activities.
Working Hours & Pay Friday – Sunday, 7 AM – 7 PM. 8 hours at straight time, last 4 hours at time & a half.
OT paid after 8 hours.
Starting pay $42.96/hour, increasing to $43.57/hour after six months of satisfactory performance.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair on manufacturing and QA automated systems.
Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists, and ladder logic.
Troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and interface peripherals.
Use test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies, and signal generators to diagnose problems.
Provide training and diagnostic assistance to team members.
Install, modify, and update documentation for new or existing equipment.
Generate preventative maintenance and calibration procedures for an auditable system.
Consult with vendors, engineers, and maintenance staff to minimize downtime.
Maintain knowledge of automated equipment and nuclear measurement techniques; stay abreast of latest technologies.
Collaborate with QA, engineering, and other groups to resolve equipment issues.
Keep work areas clean, adhere to good housekeeping practices, and follow safety procedures.
Operate within the National Electrical Code and lift up to 50 pounds.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in electronics, instrumentation, or micro‑electronics, or equivalent training with five years of related experience.
Two (2) years experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and electro‑mechanical control equipment.
Two (2) years experience reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, ladder logic, and instruction manuals.
Two (2) years experience with state‑of‑the‑art test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies, and digital analyzers.
Two (2) years experience with hand tools, soldering equipment, and electrical testing tools.
Two (2) years experience with microprocessor software structure and commands.
Eligibility Requirements
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; offer contingent upon drug screening.
Role restricted to U.S. persons due to export‑controlled technology.
Desired Characteristics
Initiate lead troubleshooting and corrective action.
Read and understand procedures such as P&Ps, EOPs, and ESIs.
Willingness to work other shifts to support business.
High concentration, attention to detail, and analytical ability.
Document work to enhance skills of lower‑rate personnel.
