Position Summary The Meat Cutter is responsible for upholding Earth Fare's Vision, Mission, Declaration, and Customer Service Creed while adhering to the department's Standard Operating Procedure. They cut and trim meat to size for display or for customers, using hand‑tools and powered equipment such as grinders, cubing machines, and power saws. The Meat Cutter delivers exceptional customer service while providing product knowledge within the department.

Essential Functions

Cut and trim meat to size for display or as ordered, using hand tools and power equipment.

Clean and cut fish and poultry. Shape, lace, and tie meat cuts by hand using a bonding knife, skewer and twine to form roasts. Place meats in containers to be wrapped and on trays for customer selection.

Deliver exceptional customer service at the Meat and Seafood counters.

Merchandise cuts of meat to maximize customer appeal and department profit.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper sanitation/cleaning of all equipment and cases and proper handling and storage of products.

Receive product and load into refrigerator.

Perform other duties as assigned by department management.

Knowledge and Critical Skills

Excellent customer service to customers and Team Members.

Extensive knowledge of meat cuts and cooking techniques, and ability to cut whole chicken into standard parts and advanced cuts for other meats.

Work independently and within a team setting.

Organized and pays close attention to detail.

Multi‑task and assist customers while completing duties.

Read and follow written and verbal instructions.

Manual dexterity with potentially hazardous equipment.

Use Falcon hand‑held computer scanner and food scale.

Safe knife handling and use of cutting equipment.

Ability to educate the public on living conditions of animals.

Explain various cooking techniques.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and support sister stores.

Attend work regularly and predictably.

Work safely and be alert.

Uphold Company anti‑harassment and integrity standards.

Cooperate with managers, supervisors, coworkers, customers & public.

Efficiently under stressful conditions.

Work varying shifts, including overtime.

Experience Preferred: 1+ years of meat cutting experience.

Environmental Conditions

Fast‑paced environment focused on customer service.

Stand and be on feet during scheduled shift.

Work in extreme cold and extreme heat environments.

Exposure to odors, fumes, smoke, and loud noise.

Physical Demands

Lifting up to 50 pounds (or otherwise assist).

Bend, reach, stoop, kneel, squat.

Push, pull, maneuver heavy loads.

Stand and be on feet majority of shift.
