Summary Custodian, under the general supervision of the Custodial Foreman, works on a crew to maintain an acceptable standard of cleanliness at various City facilities. Responsible for inspection of equipment and following safety rules and policies. Schedule: Monday - Friday 5:00am - 1:30pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sweeps, dusts, mops, and vacuums floors, stairwells, carpets, and mats, performing spot cleaning as needed
Cleans and sanitizes restrooms including toilets, urinals, sinks, countertops, partitions, and replenishes supplies
Wipes down windows, glass doors, mirrors, laminate tables, and other building surfaces
Dusts, polishes, and cleans office furniture, light fixtures, and blinds
Empties trash and recycling receptacles, replaces liners, and disposes of waste appropriately
Strips, waxes, buffs, and shampoos various flooring types using appropriate equipment
Drives and maintains a clean City vehicle to perform duties at various locations
Climbs ladders up to 12 feet to perform tasks
Abides by safety rules, reviews safety data sheets, and immediately reports any safety hazards
Secures facilities upon entrance and departure
Inspects custodial equipment, communicates maintenance issues, and maintains adequate cleaning supplies at assigned facilities
Identifies and reports needed fixture or building repairs to the Crew Leader and/or Custodial Foreman
Attends and participates in safety, operations, and policy/procedure training sessions
Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Six (6) months of related custodial experience
Certifications and Licenses
Valid driver’s license
