Office and Administrative Support – Full‑time, Non‑exempt Pay Basis
Monthly – $3,100.05 (RET 2.5% Less) Job Summary
Provides routine administrative support to the mail room operations. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Essential Functions
Prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, forms, and other documents; coordinates work with other departments, units, and staff. Reviews inmate correspondence and processes denials content received in violation of the correspondence rules; responds to inmate inquiries regarding rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Performs data entry, retrieval, and data searches; assists in preparing reports; maintains files and records for the unit mail room operations. Maintains log of inmate special, legal, and media mail; processes electronic communications, certified mail, and packages received. Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited senior high school, equivalent, or GED. Experience: Customer service, clerical, administrative support, technical program support, mail room, or correctional unit operations experience preferred. Knowledge: Office practices and procedures; mail room operations and agency rules, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding inmate mail preferred; agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred. Skill: Communicates ideas and instructions clearly and concisely; coordinates with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public; interprets and applies rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; uses computers and related equipment in a stand‑alone or local area network environment; prepares and maintains accurate records, files, and reports. Additional Requirements
Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly; climb stairs; identify colors; hear with aid; see; write; count; read; speak; analyze; alphabetize; lift and carry 15–44 lbs.; perceive depth; operate a motor vehicle and motor equipment. Work conditions include working inside; working around machines with moving parts and moving objects; working with radiant and electrical energy; working closely with others; working alone; working protracted or irregular hours; traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane. Equipment used includes computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, cart, dolly, and automobile. Additional Information
