Job Description A Kroger Bakery Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while encouraging other associates to do the same. As a Bakery team member, you will establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. The Bakery Clerk assists the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitors all established quality assurance standards. Most importantly, you should demonstrate Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities
Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
Inform customers of bakery specials.
Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size.
Recommend bakery items to customers.
Use all equipment in bakery such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
Prepare foods according to the food temperature logs and follow cooking/baking instructions.
Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe guidelines.
Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
Check product quality for freshness and review sell‑by dates.
Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Understand store layout and locate products when requested by customers.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions.
Maintain inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies.
Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
Promote trust and respect among associates.
Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and appreciated.
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
Display a positive attitude.
Practice preventive maintenance and notify for repairs.
Notify management of accidents or incidents.
Report all safety risks, issues, or illegal activity including robbery, theft, or fraud.
Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
Outstanding customer service skills.
Desire to gain an understanding of food production and basic cooking techniques.
Effective communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a sense of urgency.
Good basic math skills.
Ability to obtain a current food handlers permit once employed.
