Boiler Service Technician – Level 4 The Boiler Service Technician – Level 4 is a senior‑level role responsible for expert service, maintenance, and upgrades of hot water and steam boiler systems in commercial and industrial settings. The position requires advanced troubleshooting skills, extensive experience with dual‑fuel burner setups and combustion tuning, and a deep understanding of control and motor wiring. Candidates must be proficient in 3‑element feedwater systems, parallel positioning controls, and analog circuit/transmitter diagnostics, as well as have knowledge of 3‑parameter trim systems, O2 trim installation, and advanced control system upgrades.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead expert‑level service, maintenance, and upgrades of boiler systems in complex environments.

Demonstrate strong knowledge of burner setup, dual‑fuel systems, combustion management, and 3‑element feedwater systems.

Diagnose and resolve issues with analog circuits and transmitters.

Understand and install 3‑parameter trim systems and O2 trim controls.

Execute advanced control system upgrades and retrofits.

Provide coaching and guidance to other technicians on boiler repairs.

Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacements, and modifications as required.

Prepare for on‑site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating work.

Inspect and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment, keeping service records and manuals up to date.

Document work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files.

Act as a direct customer contact, representing the company, and providing technical support.

Determine parts to order for repairs and ensure timely procurement.

Keep current on all manufacturers’ products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.

Deal with customer service tasks: respond promptly, communicate professionally, build long‑term relationships, and address concerns quickly.

Adhere to safety procedures, report unsafe conditions, use PPE, and complete monthly safety training.

Promote teamwork, continuously improve processes, and enhance personal performance.

Qualifications Education and Experience:

Associate degree or equivalent in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning from a two‑year college or technical school; 8‑10 years of related experience.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid driver’s license, Universal EPA certification.

Language Skills:

Read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence; write simple correspondence; present information in one‑on‑one or small group settings.

Mathematical Skills:

Perform basic arithmetic and compute rates, ratios, and percentages; interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, interpret technical instructions, and draw conclusions.

Physical Demands:

Requires frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, climbing, standing, walking, reaching, and gripping; lifting up to 115 lbs; classified as Very Heavy Physical Demand.

Work Environment:

Outdoor, mechanical rooms, possible extreme weather; exposure to moving parts, wet conditions, fumes, electrical shock, vibration, chemicals, extreme temperatures; loud noise.
