Job Goal:
To provide support for scheduling and administrative tasks within the Special Education Department.
Qualifications
Effective Communication & Interpersonal Skills are highly valued in this position
Strong organization skills and ability to switch tasks easily
Proficient use of technology including basic operating systems, Google Suite & Apple products.
Knowledge of Special Education law preferred
Certifications
Maine DOE Certification - CHRC
Performance Responsibilities
Schedule IEPs with Administrators, Teachers, & Guardians
Process paperwork associated with IEPs
Support Special Education Office functions
Additional responsibilities as assigned
Education
Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in a school setting
Experience
2+ years in a fast‑paced office setting
Experience with special education preferred
Experience as an Educational Technician or Special Education Teacher may replace secretarial experience
Working Schedule
This is a full‑time, year‑round position (260 days)
Working hours Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm (with paid lunch)
Paid holidays, vacation & sick time
Travel Requirements
Minimal travel required, but may need to visit individual schools on occasion
Must have reliable transportation
Reports To:
Director of Special Education
Terms of Employment:
As determined annually by the District.
Evaluation:
Completed annually by the Director of Special Education or their designee.

Non‑exempt
