Staff Civil Engineer – Environmental Services
We are seeking a
Staff Civil Engineer
with environmental experience to join our growing Environmental Services team in Greenville, SC. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineer to contribute to a wide range of civil and environmental projects—from transmission line routing and renewable energy to commercial development, power generation, water treatment facilities, and emergency response.
This role offers exposure to diverse technical areas, including:
Hydraulic analyses
Stormwater management
Regulatory compliance
Preparation of construction documents
Construction administration and management
You’ll play a key role in guiding project teams through design and construction, adapting plans to meet client needs, budgets, and technical requirements. The ideal candidate thrives in multidisciplinary environments, enjoys mentoring junior engineers, and is eager to make an impact on projects that shape communities and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Lead or support engineering teams
to deliver coordinated, high‑quality civil and environmental designs.
Manage multidisciplinary projects
with varying levels of technical complexity.
Prepare technical documentation
including design criteria, reports, drawings, design packages, and cost estimates.
Provide strategic planning services
to clients.
Mentor and review work
of junior engineering staff.
Oversee project execution
including scope, budget, schedule, quality, safety, and client expectations.
Build client relationships
and participate in marketing, contractual, and design meetings.
Champion QA/QC procedures
and contribute to internal training initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Environmental or Civil Engineering (ABET‑accredited) or related degree.
Alternatively, a Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Civil, or related Engineering Technology (ABET‑accredited) plus successful completion of the FE exam.
Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering may substitute for 1 year of experience.
Minimum 3 years (4 preferred) of environmental engineering experience; consulting background preferred.
FE/EIT certification preferred.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Experience overseeing construction and knowledge of construction methods.
Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Strong grasp of civil engineering techniques and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage clients, regulators, and colleagues.
Detail‑oriented with strong facilitation, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to think critically and work analytically in a quantitative environment.
