School Bus Driver
Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) is hiring School Bus Drivers. Training is provided for those without a CDL. The role offers competitive pay starting at $25.28 per hour, plus benefits such as health, dental, vision, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and flexible schedules suitable for college students, veterans, and others.
Essential Functions
Drive children safely to and from the schools on regular routes and school-sponsored field trips.
Follow the route description as it is written.
Maintain the discipline of the students.
Submit required forms by the due date.
Use and maintain a FCPS email account.
Keep the bus clean, in good mechanical condition, and ensure preventive maintenance is performed.
Attend all in-service training meetings as required.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Ability to read and write, as demonstrated by passing the FCPS pre‑service instructional training course under COMAR.
No more than two (2) current points on driving record and a satisfactory past driving record, as determined by the Director of Transportation.
At least 21 years of age.
Five (5) years of driving experience, holding a valid driver's license during that time.
Must meet all Motor Vehicle Licensing requirements for a CDL with a passenger endorsement.
Pass the appropriate medical examination for school vehicle drivers as stated in COMAR.
Receive a negative controlled substance test as required under COMAR.
Pass medical examinations for school vehicle drivers prior to each anniversary date.
Maintain a driving record in accordance with COMAR.
Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
