Job Summary:
Experienced individual in basic molecular and/or cellular biology techniques to support ongoing research projects, develop and evaluate new research methods, maintain detailed notebooks, support mouse lines, and manage laboratory supplies.
Responsibilities
Culture Media:
Perform examinations of specimens for diseases and pathological conditions; prepare culture media; incubate and culture bacteria; stain slides; perform molecular biology techniques.
Laboratory Equipment:
Calibrate and operate spectrophotometer, microscope, Coulter counter, centrifuge, hemacytometer, and other equipment; place lab orders.
Animals:
Maintain mouse lines and colonies.
Other:
Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related natural/health sciences field and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting (particularly clinical trials).
OR Associate’s degree in a related field and a minimum of three years’ experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting (particularly clinical trials).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and willing to learn additional computer software/database tools.
Good laboratory practice knowledge.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to read and understand experimental directions.
Shift / Salary / Benefits Shift:
Days – Monday through Friday (outside normal business hours may be required).
Salary Range:
$17.88 – $19.23 per hour (Pay Band B5; Salary commensurate with qualifications).
Benefits:
Health, dental, life insurance, retirement plans, vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays; eligible employees may also receive tuition assistance after 6 months.
