Senior Research Assistant – Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine (MCG‑NEUROSCI) at Augusta University. Full‑time, Day shift, Monday‑Friday. Position ID: 293437. Location
Augusta University, Health Sciences Campus: 1120 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30912. Summerville Campus: 2500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904. Responsibilities
Conduct research on Alzheimer’s disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models. Perform drug treatment and behavioral testing on mice. Develop hypotheses and design experimental protocols for data collection, verification, and management. Collect mouse specimens, including brain and peripheral organs, for histology, molecular, biochemical, and computational analysis. Perform stereotactic surgery and complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, and statistical/computational procedures. Primary cell culture, histology, and imaging of mouse nervous system tissue. Manage transgenic mouse colony and perform small animal surgical and behavioral procedures. Identify and implement experimental and analytical pipeline improvements and refinements. Prepare and submit manuscripts and grant proposals, providing figures, methods, and technical expertise. Mentor junior lab members and promote a collaborative, high‑performance lab culture. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related natural science from an accredited college or university. Minimum two years of applicable experience in research, basic science, or a clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research. Skills & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail‑oriented with strong multi‑tasking, prioritization, and organizational skills. Maintain confidentiality and work with research animals. Salary & Benefits
Shift: Days, Monday‑Friday. Pay Band: B6 – Salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range (minimum‑midpoint). Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
