Job Description
Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy (MGLVA) seeks a Full‑Time High School Special Education Teacher to deliver online instruction and support students with individualized education programs. The role requires Michigan certification and a Special Education endorsement. The position is virtual and open to residents of all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
Essential Functions
Provide instruction, support, and guidance to students with special needs in an online environment.
Develop and maintain compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other state‑specific documentation.
Lead and participate in collaborative IEP meetings and related service staff meetings.
Modify Stride K12 lesson plans and assessments to meet individual IEP accommodations.
Collect, analyze, and use student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals and inform instructional decisions.
Deliver engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences and prepare students for high‑stakes standardized tests.
Maintain positive, timely communication with families, students, coaches, and administrators.
Support students, coaches, and parents with virtual classroom instructional issues and troubleshooting.
Travel up to 20% for professional development, testing, and school events.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Michigan active state teaching license.
Clear background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching online high school students.
Experience supporting adults and children with technology.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits Base salary around $51,000 plus eligibility for a performance bonus. Eligible employees receive a robust benefits package including health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
