Remote – full‑time position, start date immediate.
Job Description This remote High School Special Education Teacher is a state‑certified teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. The teacher must plan instruction, support students, guide the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs as defined in each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). The teacher works with students and parents to advance each student’s learning and is responsible for the compliance documents required for serving students with special needs.
Responsibilities
Ensure all special‑education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team.
Communicate with parents and related‑service staff to coordinate appropriate therapies.
Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports and other state‑specific required documentation.
Facilitate and lead collaborative special‑education meetings, including annual IEP meetings.
Use provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities.
Modify Stride K12 lessons and assessments to meet IEP specifications.
Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general‑education classroom.
Collect data and work samples to monitor progress toward IEP goals.
Document all contact with parents and interventions with students.
Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed.
Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
Commit to personalizing learning for all students.
Maintain grade book, student placement, and promotion decisions; alert administrators to concerns.
Prepare students for high‑stakes standardized tests.
Establish and maintain positive rapport with families; communicate regularly and respond in a timely manner.
Support learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues and troubleshooting in a virtual classroom.
Travel up to 20% of time for professional development, student testing, or as required by the school.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Active State Special Education teaching license.
Six months of student‑teaching experience.
Clear background check(s).
Desired Qualifications
Ability to interpret and use student data for instructional decisions.
Receptive to coaching and open to change.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning platforms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience teaching online and/or in a brick‑and‑mortar setting.
Experience with online learning platforms.
Certifications & Licenses
Special Education certification.
Residency Requirement Strongly prefer residents of
Indiana ; may consider residents of surrounding states (MI, OH, KY, IL).
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $48,000 – $52,000, plus eligibility for performance bonus.
