Long-Term Substitute: Teacher Aide- Lower School Reports to: Elementary School Principal

The Academy of the Holy Names is an independent, Catholic, coeducational elementary school and a college preparatory high school for young women, sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience Working In a School Setting Responsive Classroom training or ability to complete over the summer

Classification This is a temporary, full-time, hourly position.

Responsibilities

Embrace and model the SNJM charism.

Implement the Responsive Classroom approach for classroom management to create a respectful safe environment for all.

Assist the classroom teacher to facilitate everyday classroom procedures and instruction.

Circulate and assist with student support during instruction both whole group and small group instruction.

Confers with students on individual practice to assist in providing immediate feedback for student growth.

Facilitate small group instruction or individualized instruction as needed by the teacher for remediation or extension work in all subjects.

Maintain open and consistent communication about procedures/processes/or student concerns.

Clerical work (run off copies, prepare supplies for upcoming activities, etc.).

Preparation of materials for instruction.

Assist with grading as requested by the teacher.

Uphold a watchful eye on the students throughout the day to ensure their safety and social-emotional well being.

Supervise outdoor play, lunch/recess, arrival, and dismissal.

Assist with student support during special classes as needed by the teacher (swim duty, etc.).

Prepares skill practice materials for all classes.

Attend and participate in faculty/staff meetings or professional development opportunities.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a Level II Background Screening.
