Job Description
Prepare soil and growth media, including hauling and spreading topsoil, fertilizer, peat moss and other materials; digging, raking and screening soil; filling cold frames and hot beds; watering and planting.
Plant, spray, weed and water plants, shrubs and trees; sow grass seed, plant plugs of sod; cut, roll, and stack sod; trap and poison pests such as moles, gophers, mice.
Pack horticultural products by tying, bunching, wrapping and packing flowers, plants, shrubs and trees; moving containerized shrubs and trees using wheelbarrow or by hand.
Assist in planting and harvesting ornamental trees for wholesale; weed, clean, prune trees and maintain barns, fields, and irrigation equipment.
Handle miscellaneous tasks such as weeding, hoeing, cleaning, repairing farm buildings, setting up and moving irrigation pipes and equipment, gardening and maintaining tools.
Requirements
Minimum 1 month of verifiable nursery experience.
Transportation to the job site.
Capacity to lift, pull, push, bend, twist, climb, squat, and push heavy loads; ability to lift up to 70 lbs and transport trees and shrubs weighing up to 70 lbs.
Exposure to dust, dirt, heat, cold, fumes, noise, vibration and water; willingness to work in extreme temperatures.
Frequent stooping, bending, stooping or staying in one position; repetitive movements.
Valid employment eligibility in the United States.
