Shift Morning 7 am – 3 pm (EST)
Position Overview The Toolroom Associate repairs and maintains plastic injection mold tools, ranging from single‑cavity low‑volume to multi‑cavity high‑volume molds. Duties include disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and setup of molds. The role works with Toolmakers and apprentices to prioritize jobs, troubleshoot defects, and modify mold designs. Fabrication or repair of components may be performed on machine‑shop equipment such as lathe, mill, and grinder.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Perform scheduled and emergency tooling repair, maintenance, cleaning & set‑up of self‑contained molds
Inspect, build & maintain tooling & part fixtures using turning, milling & grinding operations
Recommend changes to mold designs to improve tooling life
Assist in troubleshooting tooling on the production floor in the molding machines & on the bench
Understand hot‑runner tooling function, maintenance & troubleshooting
Assist in the training of other toolmakers and apprentices
Participate in plant‑wide safety efforts and reinforce a culture of safety
Support and participate in continuous improvement activities, maintaining a clean and organized workplace
Respond to customer, scheduling, production, engineering and maintenance demands
Work independently as well as on a team, and participate in cross‑training activities
Other responsibilities and projects as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
Degree or diploma from a 2‑year machine trades program
Experience:
2–5 years in assembly and reassembly of molds with thorough knowledge of tooling, toolroom practices, and fabrication techniques
Specific skills:
Mechanical aptitude; accurate troubleshooting and problem solving; strong organizational and mathematical skills
Work Environment Manufacturing plant, climate controlled.
