Job Description
The General Laborer will be responsible for placing conduit and/or cables in trenches, splice conduit sections (install couplers) as directed, place anchors, pedestals, vaults, etc. to complete construction tasks. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of the construction industry.
Responsibilities
Assist in the loading/unloading of equipment, materials and supplies needed for daily work
Assist leadership (Foreman and/or Supervisor) with all duties
Operate tamps, jackhammers, core drills, concrete saws, and other miscellaneous equipment safely
Hand dig with shovels, picks, digging bars to expose located utilities, access underground vaults and pedestals, and complete trenches
Place conduit and/or cables in trenches, splice conduit sections (install couplers) as directed, place anchors, pedestal, vaults, etc. to complete construction tasks
Fully restore worksite at completion of work, refill trenches and holes, tamp soil, replant any plants or shrubs that were disturbed during construction, place temporary asphalt on streets where excavations have been performed
When required and appropriately licensed and authorized, drive or operate construction equipment used on the job site to complete daily work assignments
Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use
Capable of working in all temperatures and climates
Able to perform physical tasks for the entire assigned work shift
Other duties may be assigned consistent with job description
Requirements
2 years previous experience and knowledge of underground utility construction a must
Ability to operate all equipment safely and productively
Knowledge and understanding of reading drawings and ability to follow specifications
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with crew, leadership, and clients
Function effectively as an integral part of a team
Must be able to meet physical demands of the position
Work safely in all conditions
Possess knowledge of industry standard safe working practices
Pre-employment drug screen
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record
Must be able to pass background check and drug screen
